General Container Information

It depends on what you're storing and the space you have available. As a rough guide:
8ft — garden tools, sporting equipment and small storage
10ft — roughly the contents of a single garage
20ft — comfortably holds a 2–3 bedroom home
40ft — larger homes, bulk storage and commercial use
If you need extra internal height, for tall furniture, large equipment or a workspace fit-out, a High Cube container adds an extra 300mm and is available in both 20ft and 40ft.

We supply both new and used shipping containers. New (one-trip) containers have been shipped to Australia once. Used containers are retired from international shipping and are available in a range of grades. From premium IICL containers with minimal wear through to budget ASIS containers sold as-is. Every container we sell can be inspected before delivery or purchase. Reach out to find the most suitable container for you.

New Build means a one-trip container: it has carried one load of goods to Australia.
Cargo Worthy containers are generally around 15 years old, straighter and less patched than WWT units. Suitable units can be CSC-inspected for rail and sometimes overseas transport; tell us your intended use so we can assess the unit and certification requirements.
Wind and Water Tight (WWT) containers are generally 18 years old or more. They may look rough or patched but are intended to be watertight.
Condition varies between individual containers. Ask about the actual unit, photos and suitability for your job.

Yes. We offer container hire and container sales. Foreshore services all of NSW; hire is mainly within approximately 200 km of Wollongong.
Hired containers may be moved or transported loaded with prior approval. We assess the contents, weight, weight distribution, load restraint, access and truck capacity before confirming the move. Contact us before loading or arranging transport.
Delivery & Placement

Yes! We deliver containers locally in Wollongong, Illawarra, Nowra, and throughout the South Coast, as well as NSW-wide. Our delivery options include tilt-tray, side-loader, and crane truck depending on your site access.

These are planning guides; Foreshore must assess the actual site and truck requirements before confirming delivery.
Tilt tray: minimum 6 m clear height, 2.8 m clear width (ideally more), and approximately 18–20 m clear in front of the landing point.
Hiab: similar width, no overhead power lines, and suitable truck parking and manoeuvring space.
Side loader: approximately 3.5 m width, 35 m length and 7 m height, plus clear space beside the truck.
Send photos of the entrance, driveway, overhead obstacles and proposed position. Free site inspections are available within the Illawarra.

Yes — our experienced drivers will assist in safely positioning the container where you need it.

Delivery timing depends on the available container, your location, site access and truck scheduling. Tell us your preferred date and any deadlines when you enquire. We will confirm what is possible after assessing the job.
Container Modifications & Custom Builds

Yes! We offer container modifications for:

Modifications can include: doors, windows, insulation, electrical, roller doors, shelving, and custom paint.
Modification work requires a 50% deposit. Electrical and plumbing work is completed by certified contractors, with certificates available on request.

We welcome inspections at our Woonona facility by appointment. While we sometimes have modified containers in stock for viewing, availability can vary. If you're ordering a custom-modified container, a deposit is required before we begin the modification process. Feel free to contact us to check current stock or discuss your project needs.
On-Site Storage at Our Woonona Facility

Yes. We offer secure storage services in Woonona, ideal for trades, business overflow, or temporary storage needs. Accessible for clients in Wollongong, Nowra, and the South Coast.

Woonona storage access is 7am–7pm Monday to Friday and by appointment on weekends. There is no staffed office at the storage yard. Please contact us in advance to arrange a visit or weekend access.
Container Unpacking & Local Distribution

Yes — we offer full container unpacking and local distribution across Wollongong, Illawarra, and Nowra. Perfect for clients who lack the space or staff to unload large shipments.

We do. Once your goods are unpacked and stored, we can deliver smaller loads locally or regionally — including NSW-wide.

Foreshore services all of NSW from our only depot in Woonona. Hire is mainly within approximately 200 km of Wollongong. Sales are mainly south of Sydney and extend partly into western NSW. Our Woonona self-storage mainly serves customers within approximately 10 km.
